This product would have made sense three years ago

"lightshow" 3d object scanning system

This $400 peripheral from 3DScanner.Com was -- at the time -- my second favorite item at the show, and it was across the aisle from the The Scope. It is a lighted hood which fits over any flatbed scanner and allows you to scan 3-dimensional objects like the motorcycle toy in this image.

Then again, you could get a decent digital camera for the same amount of money. The final images from a scanner are pretty hi-res, but the lighting is very flat. Unless you need an image "yesterday", the results are only comp quality, so you might as well use a camera.
